Television audiences watching virtually every major North American broadcast and cable outlet will have the opportunity to see an exclusive, two-minute scene from the film as part of this simultaneous roadblock on Thursday, between 10:50 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. EDT/PDT.
Supported by a multi-million dollar promotional campaign by Comcast, the action-packed two-minute sequence from 2012 will air on the major broadcast networks (ABC, NBC and CBS), 89 cable networks, local stations in the top 70 markets, and Spanish-language networks throughout the United States.
Movies Online had the chance to sit down with Roland Emmerich at this years San Diego Comic-Con and pick his brain about his new disaster film 2012 staring John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover and Woody Harrelson.

“…When you do a flood movie, a flood has to be global and then you have to come up mentally with a theory. We pretty much researched a little bit, and we found this one theory which is earth quest displacement, which may be true or not. It doesn’t really matter, but for our movie it was perfect, because it pretty much comes with earthquakes, volcano eruptions, and the whole crust shifting and because of that this incredible cataclysm comes and then these enormous tsunamis it created, and then I had to fill in…”

Read the full interview here.

2012 movie poster released

Yahoo! has landed the first look at movie poster for Roland Emmerich's latest disaster flick, 2012. The poster features a surprisingly compelling image of a city breaking apart in miles-wide sections and falling to the sea. This, along with the first trailer showing ocean waves cresting over the Himalyas, strongly suggests all the stops have been pulled out for this movie, and we can expect a disaster film of proportions never before seen. Let's hope so. Click the jump for a larger view.

2012: The wrath of Ronald Emmerich, and how to survive it

Guardian
By: Anna Pickard

Roland Emmerich is the director of some of the biggest, most promising-looking summer blockbuster trailers ever - Independence Day, Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow. Classics of the genre, even if the films themselves didn't always live up to the promise. So not to tackle the full-length trailer for his latest, 2012, would have been a serious derelicition of duty.

The teaser, if you remember, showed one unfortunate Tibetan monk in one unfortunate mountain monastery being engulfed by a tidal wave while ringing a bell.

Watching it, the question in the forefront of everyone's minds was: what had mountain monks ever done to piss off Roland Emmerich so much? Well, only slightly ahead of "What's that big wave doing there?"
