Bio
BRANDON HARDESTY, one of the Internet’s first true celebrities, comes from the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland. Working out of his parent’s basement, Hardesty made a name for himself with his short films, most notably his re-enactment series; a collection of short films where he recreates scenes from famous movies and plays every role himself. Hardesty is one of YouTube’s first stars, and with over ten million viewers is still one of the site’s most popular comedians of all time. Hardesty came to national attention in 2007 when Geico Auto Insurance used his short film Strange Faces and Noises I Can Make III for one of their commercials. In the same year he was offered his first feature role in the independent film Bart Got a Room opposite William H. Macy and Cheryl Hines, directed by Brian Hecker, who had become familiar with Hardesty’s work on YouTube. Hardesty continues to upload videos to YouTube. In anticipation of the 2008 Academy Awards Ceremony on ABC, Jimmy Kimmel Live! featured Hardesty for five nights leading up to the telecast. Each night Hardesty was challenged to re-enact a different scene from each of the best picture nominees. His’s re-enactments gained him further attention that year when he was asked to participate in the inaugural broadcast of YouTube Live. Hardesty relocated to Los Angeles in March, 2009, where to pursue his acting career.
