  • Doubleday unveils jacket for Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol'

    Dan Brown's The Lost SymbolFollowing much speculation about the content of the eagerly awaited new novel from phenomenal bestselling author Dan Brown, Doubleday today released the North American jacket of The Lost Symbol which will be published on September 15th.

    For the first time, fans worldwide will discover the setting for the action and key themes from the forthcoming thriller. "Dan's new novel is largely set in Washington, D.C., though it's a Washington few will recognize," said Jason Kaufman, Brown's longtime editor. "As we would expect, he pulls back the veil-- revealing an unseen world of mysticism, secret societies, and hidden locations, with a stunning twist that long predates America."

  • Angels & Demons Poised for Unholy Success

    Some religious groups consider them the unholy trinity, but to the film industry, author Dan Brown, director Ron Howard, and headliner Tom Hanks are the golden trio with the box-office Midas touch.

    The triumvirate confirmed that lofty status in 2006 with Howard’s loyal movie rendition of Brown’s bestselling novel The Da Vinci Code, featuring Hanks as the code-cracking professor Robert Langdon. Despite poor reviews and major protests from the powerful Catholic Church, among others, the film went on to earn a whopping $758 million US worldwide.

    The three have dared return with another Langdon thriller called Angels & Demons, which opens Friday and is poised for a repeat draw of what The Da Vinci Code attracted previously: lots of film fans and controversy.

    "...I didn’t expect as much controversy as we had with The Da Vinci Code," said Howard in New York last November during promotional interviews for his low budget, Oscar-honoured Frost/Nixon. "Angels & Demons is not meant to be anti anything, but a straight-ahead, ticking-bomb thriller..."
