Jolie plays Christine Collins, a single mother living in the Los Angeles of 1928. One Saturday she kissed her young 8-year-old son Walter goodbye and went off to work. When she returned back home later that day she found that her son had vanished.<!--break--> Christine went to the police and what followed is one of the strangest stories in the history of Los Angeles. After running up against a questioning public and police corruption and apathy, the young mother finally had Walter returned back to her -- but the problem was that the young boy presented to her by the police department wasn't Walter. What followed was a nightmarish fight for Christine Collins against the legal system and those in authority as she fought for the return of her son. <strong>Changeling</strong> also stars <a href="/changeling/cast/john-malkovich" target="_blank">John Malkovich</a> as a reverend who emphasizes with Christine's struggle. The movie is in fact based on a terrifying true incident that had long-lasting repercussions for the Los Angeles police department and shaped the image of the squeaky-clean city for generations to come.
