Changeling out on DVD

Changeling has been released on DVD.

The central character in 'Changeling' is Christine Collins (Angelina Jolie), a working-class single mother who comes home from her job one day to discover her nine-year-old son Walter has gone missing. A few months later, the corrupt LAPD delivers to Christine a boy they insist is Walter, but she knows is not. Soon she finds herself incarcerated in a psychiatric ward. Meanwhile, an investigation is conducted that leads to a creepy serial killer.

The only bonus materials on the Changeling DVD are two video featurettes with a total runtime of 18 minutes.

"Partners in Crime: Clint Eastwood and Angelina Jolie" is a reasonably interesting 13-minute making-of. The screenwriter, J. Michael Straczynski, talks about discovering transcripts at Los Angeles City Hall of Christine Collins hearings dated October 1928. Eastwood, producer Brian Grazer, the costumer and the production designer all speak briefly about making the film. Jolie, Malkovich, child actor Gattlin Griffith and several other actors discuss what it is was like to work with Eastwood.

The other extra is the five-minute "The Common Thread: Angelina Jolie Becomes Christine Collins," which contains some information about the lead actress' wardrobe, including the 1920s-style jacket with a dropped waist, a cloche hat and a 1930s dress she wears toward the end of the movie. Those were clip-on roller skates she wore in the scene where her character was working as the supervisor of a group of telephone operators.

Angelina Jolie up for Best Actress Academy Award

Angelina Jolie has been nominated for Best Actress by the Academy Awards for his performance in Changeling. Nominations for the 81st Academy Awards were announced today by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis and Oscar® winner Forest Whitaker.

Academy members from each of the branches vote to determine the nominees in their respective categories – actors nominate actors, film editors nominate film editors, etc. In the Animated Feature Film and Foreign Language Film categories, nominations are selected by vote of multi-branch screening committees. All voting members are eligible to select the Best Picture nominees.

Official screenings of all motion pictures with one or more nominations will begin for members this weekend at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Screenings also will be held at the Academy's Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood and in London, New York and San Francisco.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2008 will be presented on Sunday, February 22, 2009, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Changeling on MovieSet

Angelina Jolie stars in Clint Eastwood's new movie, Changeling, set for limited release on October 24 and then expanding a week later on Halloween. Jolie plays Christine Collins, a single mother living in the Los Angeles of 1928. One Saturday she kissed her young 8-year-old son Walter goodbye and went off to work. When she returned back home later that day she found that her son had vanished. Christine went to the police and what followed is one of the strangest stories in the history of Los Angeles. After running up against a questioning public and police corruption and apathy, the young mother finally had Walter returned back to her -- but the problem was that the young boy presented to her by the police department wasn't Walter. What followed was a nightmarish fight for Christine Collins against the legal system and those in authority as she fought for the return of her son. Changeling also stars John Malkovich as a reverend who emphasizes with Christine's struggle. The movie is in fact based on a terrifying true incident that had long-lasting repercussions for the Los Angeles police department and shaped the image of the squeaky-clean city for generations to come. Movies.ie has caught up with 'Changeling' star Angelina Jolie. Jolie talks about her role as Christine Collins, a heavily emotional tale of a mother who lost her son. She also shares about her connection to the character and bringing a physical and strong characteristic to the role. Jolie also touches on how sexy guns are and Brad Pitt. 'Changeling' is out in theaters October 31st.

"...obviously there's a part of me that takes the world of violence and death very seriously. However, when it comes to protection or when it comes to just the skill of shooting ... I've gone to the range with sniper rifles and things like that. Brad and I both like it a lot. That is something we have in common..."

Changeling Writer J. Michael Straczynski

Time has caught up with long time Marvel Comics writer and ‘Changeling’ writer J. Michael Straczynski. Straczynksi talks about what the film is about, and how much of it is true. Having a journalist background, the ‘Changeling’ writer shares how much of it came in handy when researching the film - particularly through the hours of City Hall archives to hospital records. Straczynksi also touches on his past successes and writing for Marvel Comics.

“…I grew up on comics and cartoons. So, as an adult, I like comics and cartoons. My house looks like it was decorated by a 14-year old with a platinum American Express card. You should do what you enjoy doing, what brings you passion…”

Not only does Ryan talk about Michael Scott, the actress chats about working with "Changeling" director Clint Eastwood. "Changeling" will be released October 31st and also stars John Malkovich and Jeffrey Donovan.

Film4 has caught up with 'Changeling' star Angelina Jolie. Jolie talks about coming to the story of Christine Collins, a tale that is truly stranger than fiction. She also shares how strange it is that the story had not been heard before the film, debating wether it could be a possible consipiracy. Jolie also shares what i was like to portray the character and how close it brought her to her own family. 'Changeling' is out in theathers.

"...I was so relieved to step away from this movie. I would have my kids there at lunch, and at the end of the day I was so happy I knew where they were, that they were safe. I wanted to just play all the time. During the filming I got pregnant, so by the end of it, I was one hundred percent focused on babies. When it started I wanted to get pregnant..."

The Dead Bolt has interviewed 'Changeling' director Clint Eastwood and star 'Angelina Jolie'. Eastwood talks about the mind-boggling amount of research and detail put into the film, which he describes as 'crude but idealistic'. Based in the early 30's, Angelina portrays the character of Christine Collins, a real life mother who fought the system for justice. The two go on to talk about why Angelina reminds Eastwood of Meryl Streep and the casting process in which they found eachother. 'Changeling' is out in theaters October 31st.

"...When I first was given this script, I was told that Angelina had read this and liked it. So I told Brian Grazer that I didn’t see any reason to look further. I liked her very much, and I liked her as an actress. And she is a mother and a famous mother now..."
