Synopsis

Genre: Adventure

For generations, the people of the City of Ember have flourished in an amazing world of glittering lights - underground. But Ember's once powerful generator is failing . . . and the great lamps that illuminate the city are starting to flicker. Now, in a race against time, the citizens must search Ember for clues that will unlock the ancient mystery of the city's existence, and escape before the lights go out forever.

    Premiere.com has posted an interview with "City of Ember" director Gil Nenan. Nenan expresses how forutnate he feels to be such a young director working with Speilgberg, something he calls luck. Nenan also talks about his love for video games, sci-fi, and comic books. "City of Ember" is out in theaters tomorrow, October 10th.

    "...I was a Lego maniac, too. A lot of that is, you know, city-building. [laughs] And like, uh, Sim City too.... It's like story isn't always just about human emotion and character arc; a lot of times story is driven by place and the story of place, and I think even as a kid for me that was always a real lure..."

    Movies.ie has interviewed Bill Murray about his latest role in the sci-fi adventure "City of Ember". Murray talks about how he got involved with the film, the type of research he did to prepare and what it was like to film in Ireland. "City of Ember" also stars Tim Robbins, Martin Landau, Toby Jones and Saoirse Ronan.

    "...As far as Ireland goes, thecrews were amazingly professional and devoted to the work. And the extras were unlike any extras I've ever worked with anywhere in the world. They were so completely devoted to the scene and to being in the scene. It was so helpful..."

  • A Young Director With Tom Hanks's Seal of Approval

    The Washington Post has visited "City of Ember" director Gil Kenan at the Belfast's Titanic Quarter, where the film was shot. Kenan chats about the movie as they tour the 64,000 square feet set - complete with winding alleys and 1970's inspired buildings. The article also shares how much Tom Hanks was delighted with the young director, and the praise Kenan has recieved for his unique sure-footed direction.
