Report: Rampage Jackson To Play B.A. Baracus in 'A-Team' Remake

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has been cast in the B.A. Baracus role made famous by Mr. T in the upcoming film remake of The A-Team, according to a report by UK-newspaper The Sun.

The charismatic former UFC light-heavyweight champion first mentioned the possibility over a year ago, and apparently won the role in the film ahead of other possibilities including rappers 50 Cent and The Game. The movie is currently in pre-production and scheduled for a June 2010 release.

The film will also star Liam Neeson as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith and Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck.

Jackson is one of many UFC fighters with a rising profile in Hollywood, having taken part in six movies since the start of 2008. One, Death Warrior, is scheduled for a Nov. 2009 release while another, Duel of Legends, will be released in December. The A-Team will be his largest role to date.

Multi-time UFC champion Randy Couture is also slated for a big-budget action-adventure film, starring in the upcoming flick The Expendables, along with Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke and others.

Jackson is next slated to fight Rashad Evans, possibly at UFC 107 in December, though that match has yet to be made official.

For all the fans who have been checking in the last few days, MovieSet is continuing its live streaming coverage of Death Warrior as MMA superstar Georges St-Pierre will be filming his role in the movie on Friday March 20th!.

MovieSet is going on the set of Death Warrior - the new Mixed Martial Arts movie featuring top MMA fighters, Georges St-Pierre, Keith Jardine, Rashad Evans, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and starring MMA legend Hector Echavarria.

Buck Productions is giving MovieSet complete access to talk to technical crew, actors, production staff and stunt personnel to capture the full movie making process for film buffs and MMA fans.

Roving correspondent Quinn Bender will be on-set in Toronto for most of the shoot to conduct interviews as well as provide a fly on the wall view of all the action on set of this motion picture.

Death Warrior Live Streaming

Follow your favorite fighters on the Death Warrior set in a unique live streaming event for three full shooting days. We plan to shoot the days with big fight scenes, tentatively scheduled for March 16, 17, and 20th. Remember, in the MMA and film-making worlds, anything can happen so exact dates may change. Still Not Surrendering

Death Warrior is the sequel to the soon to be released Never Surrender and is directed by Bill Cocoran and written by Hector Echavarria. In Death Warrior, an MMA fighter is forced into an underground gambling ring to fight other MMA fighters in order to save his wife from the sadistic ruler of the MMA underworld.

St. Pierre and other MMA fighters leave the cage for the big screen

TORONTO - Georges St. Pierre is flying backwards, the victim of two well-placed kicks. And it's happened again and again.

It's not something that the UFC welterweight champion is used to in real life. But the 27-year-old mixed martial arts star from Montreal has taken his fight to the big screen where he is playing a villain in the action movie "Death Warrior."

St. Pierre is trading blows with Argentine actor-kickboxer Hector Echavarria, who is Death Warrior's star, writer and executive producer. Smoke billows from one corner of the set in a north Toronto warehouse as director Bill Corcoran watches the action from behind a bank of monitors.

St. Pierre rushes at Echavarria, swinging away with air punches. He drives the Argentine back to a caged fence and then Echavarria gets the upper hand, sending the fighter backward with one kick before flying through the air with another.

"Good," said Corcoran when the scene ends, then adds: "Worth doing again."

St. Pierre is more than happy to oblige. He's enjoying himself. During a break, he munches on a sandwich and marvels at how closely his double resembles him.

The Canadian fighter had a small role in "Never Surrender," another MMA film featuring Echavarria due out on DVD next month. This role is a little larger but still modest. Echavarria loaded both movies with fighters - bringing UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, Quinton (Rampage) Jackson and Keith (The Dean of Mean) Jardine into this film.

"All the fighters have been terrific," said Corcoran. "I think partially because of their training, they're very disciplined. . . . They've got tremendous command of their bodies."

The producers are trying to make it easy for the athletes to fit in. They're not expecting Sir Laurence Olivier on set.

"I think the biggest thing with the fighters is don't act, just be yourself and don't try and push it, that film is a very intimate medium and we will see what's going on in your mind," Corcoran explained. "And to try and look at each and every scene and give them something to hang onto, so that they have a motivation, they have a reason for being there and an understanding. And that makes it pretty easy for them. They seem to take that into their bodies and into their mind and be able to do something with it."

Added Echavarria: "Basically I wrote it so they're playing themselves, so it's much easier to do the part."

DEATH WARRIOR, an action-packed movie set to bring the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) phenomena to life, features five of the best Mixed Martial Arts champions from around the world including Georges St-Pierre, Quinton ‘Rampage Jackson, Keith Jardine, Rashad Evans and Hector Echavarria. In the movie, the fighters must fight to the death in a race against time, which leads up to an ultimate showdown where there can be only one Death Warrior. The film, currently in production in Toronto, Canada, is being produced by Sean Buckley of Buck Productions, directed by Bill Corcoran and will be distributed by Grindstone Entertainment Group and Lions Gate Entertainment towards the end of 2009.

A Day (ok, a week) in the Life of GSP's Manager

OK - at your encouragement, I'm going to try to start sharing what I'm up to - sort of a 'day in the life' of an MMA fighter's manager (or at least Georges' manager). Tonight I'm writing from my hotel room in Montreal - I'm beginning to lose track of what city I'm in. Last weekend I was in Palm Desert for the US Tennis Association's annual meeting - I am currently serving a 2-year term as my Section's delegate (Intermountain Section), where I'm representing the approximately 40,000 members in our Section in matters of governance for our organization.

In stark contrast to the existing infrastructure of tennis' governing body in this country is the state of MMA - I drove back to Vegas Monday night for the NSAC meeting Tuesday, then had to unpack, do laundry, and repack for this trip. Wednesday I flew to Toronto to join Georges and shoot our 2nd movie, and in between the rehearsal & the shoot date we squeezed in filming a commercial for Gatorade. Georges was so excited to be a part of that campaign - I think it's really precious to see him when he really doesn't realize how big he's become. I also sent an e-mail to Dana with a link to the press release entitled "It's not a Wheaties box"...

What really impressed me about our time in Toronto was the media interest, especially from 'mainstream' shows. Between Thursday and Friday, we met with the Canadian Press, Rogers Sportsnet, TSN (both SportsCenter & Off The Record (gotta love the Vaseline-tossing Michael Landsberg!), The Score (I finally got to meet Mauro Ranallo in person - I could hardly contain myself!), The Fight Network & MMACanada.net - but for the first time, we also met with CTV's eTalk (akin to Access Hollywook in the U.S.) and CTV's Canada AM (similar to Good Morning, America) - it struck me that the counterparts to these shows in the U.S. are not yet covering MMA fighters, so one might draw the conclusion that MMA is gaining mainstream acceptance faster in Canada in the U.S. I have my own theories as to why - but I'd love to hear some of your opinions as well.

The movie shoot was a REALLY long day - we were picked up around 10am and returned to the hotel after midnight - Georges was a real trooper - in between scenes I had scheduled numerous interviews - it was the only way to grant their requests with our tight schedule, and they were all so accommodating to leave their studios and come to us to make it work. We were also joined on set briefly by Keith Jardine, who has a role in the same movie (Death Warrior). I hope some of you were able to log onto MovieSet.com and watch us live - what a great concept to provide streaming video of the set. They also did a super job of casting the stunt double (ok - I'll let you in on a little secret - it's not really Georges that goes flying through a glass window). But everyone on the set was fabulous - Sean & Joel the producers, Bill the director, and of course, Hector, who's single-handedly responsible for getting all these great MMA athletes involved in his projects. I can't wait to see the first one (Never Surrender) come out on DVD in late April.

Georges St-Pierre Is Having The Time Of His Life

The photo shows Georges St-Pierre being interviewed on the set of “Death Warrior,” an action film in which he portrays the villain “Shaman.”

It has been a magical transformation after the irksome plague of Greasegate and the continued accusations from BJ Penn ranging from greasing to the use of steroids.

Fortunately, more rational heads than those making up Penn’s crew have prevailed, and no punishment was deemed necessary, as none of the accusations were proved before the board of directors.

Georges has been kept busy doing interviews, filming commercials for Gatorade with the likes of Muhammad Ali and Gordie Howe, and working on his part in the Death Warrior film.
