Synopsis
The twenties have roared... the thirties have yet to swing. John Whittaker, a young Englishman, falls madly in love with Larita, a sexy and glamorous American woman, and they marry impetuously. However when the couple returns to the family home, his mother Mrs. Whittaker has an instant allergic reaction to her new daughter?in?law. Larita tries her best to fit in but fails to tiptoe through the minefield laid by her mother?in?law. Larita quickly realizes Mrs. Whittaker’s game and sees that she must fight back if she’s not going to lose John. A battle of wits ensues and sparks soon fly. Mrs. Whittaker manipulates every situation to undermine her, while Larita remains frustratingly calm and engineers sassy counter attacks. Before long, Mrs. Whittaker’s manipulation starts to work on John and Larita feels their love is in danger of slipping away. In a grand finale, where the secrets from Larita’s past are revealed, she finally makes a break for freedom from the suffocating house…..

Anyone who caught Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian last year was probably impressed with the performance by 28-year-old Ben Barnes as the title character, and as is often the case when an actor or actress is introduced in such a prominent way, some might wonder where they go from there.
In Easy Virtue, the new film from Priscilla, Queen of the Desert creators Stephan Elliot and Sheridan Jobbins based on Noel Coward's play, Barnes plays John Whittaker, a young man who brings his significantly older American wife to his parents' British countryside mansion where they're put under intense scrutiny by his deeply eccentric family. In the movie, Barnes' wife is played by the vivacious Jessica Biel."...It's more critical analysis, but I got to read a lot of plays and write essays about them, read a lot of books and poetry, and I think that's very helpful when you're reading and analyzing scripts that you're going to be involved with..."

Jessica Biel: Easy Virtue no easy ride

In the postmodern comedy opening later this month, 27-year-old Biel plays a 1920s American blond bombshell in London who gets involved with the upper-class son (Ben Barnes) of a snobby and controlling mother (Kristin Scott Thomas).
In London to promote Easy Virtue, opening later this month, Biel says she understands her character's feeling of being out of place: Her media profile has increased exponentially since she began dating Timberlake two years ago, just months after the singer broke it off with Cameron Diaz. Biel and Timberlake have been photographed often in New York and L.A., and the couple made a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live.
That's the fun side of celebrity life. But the lack of privacy also frustrates her.
"...The aspect of celebrity is very strange to me," said Biel, who confesses she wears disguises so she won't be followed by photographers. "Everybody feels they can have a piece of you..."
