Far Cry
Plot Summary
In a mysterious forest in the Pacific Northwest, a group of soldiers is attacked. A scientist, Dr. Herman Krieger, watches this from a secret research facility, obviously pleased with the results of his work.
In Seattle, star reporter Valerie Constantine has been in contact with her uncle, Max, a mercenary who is working for Dr. Krieger. He wants to leak information to the world about unethical research experiments being conducted by the Doctor on behalf of a rogue element in the military. When Valerie cannot reach her uncle, she becomes worried. She heads to the island military facility by hiring a boat and its captain, Jack Carver. Once on the island, it doesn't take long for the duo to find trouble. Unwittingly, Valerie walks into a trap set by Maria Sanchez, Dr. Krieger's head of security. Concerned by the suspected security leak, Sanchez used Max to lure Valerie to the island to discover the extent of his betrayal.
Jack avoids the trap but his boat is blown up in the process. He manages to jump ship before the explosion and hides in the forest where he witnesses Val's capture. Jack's special forces past has prepared him well for this situation. He uses various techniques and whatever supplies he can find to create a diversion and escape the scene with Valerie. She quickly learns that there is more to Jack than she realized. A dramatic car chase ensues which ends with Jack and Val going over a cliff in their stolen vehicle.
Incorrectly assuming that they are dead, Sanchez reports back to Krieger. Valerie and Jack argue about their next step. Valerie wants to find her uncle but Jack just wants to find a way off the island and stay alive in the process. Jack ends up being captured while trying to steal a boat. Valerie, unable to resist temptation, sneaks into Krieger's research facility where she is also apprehended.
In the tradition of insane scientific geniuses, Krieger cannot resist sharing his research with Valerie: super human soldiers, fueled by anger and adrenaline, super strong and unhindered by remorse the ultimate killing machines. He releases his creation on Jack as a demonstration and it is Valerie's missing brother, Max who is the latest victim of his genetic research.
A dramatic battle ensues and damage to the lab allows more of the creatures break out into the compound. Krieger and Sanchez lose control of the facility and are forced to make a frantic attempt to escape the island alive. The enraged creatures are out for blood and it remains to be seen if any of Max is left in the creature Kreiger has created. Indeed it is the only hope Jack and Valerie have of survival.
