One young man, a 22-year-old named Martin McGartland, was recruited from the streets of west Belfast by the Irish Republican Army but soon became disillusioned with the organization's brutal methods to deliver their message. Martin found a way to bring meaning to his existence by supplying the British police with intelligence about the IRA's future missions of terror. Lives were saved but in the process McGartland's own life as well as the lives of his family were placed in extreme jeopardy.</p> <!--break--> <p>Director Kari Skogland (<strong>The Stone Angel</strong>) adapted McGartland and co-author Nicholas Davies non-fiction book <strong>Fifty Dead Men Walking</strong> into a screenplay that she filmed on location in Belfast. Jim Sturgess (<strong>21</strong>, <strong>Across the Universe</strong>) plays Martin McGartland in the film while Sir Ben Kingsley plays McGartland's British police contact.
