Comedian Aziz Ansari on ‘Funny People’

movieset.comFrom the Director / Writer of such popular comedies as 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, comes Funny People, a comedy about a terminally ill comedian whose desire to form a genuine friendship causes him to take a relatively green performer under his wing.
In the film, Aziz Ansari plays an abrasive comic named Randy. Recently Ansari found the time to talk with Vulture and discuses the inspiration for his character, and his future endeavors.
“…It's not really a dig at any comedians or anything. Obviously there's parts making fun of over-the-top stuff like Def Comedy Jam and stuff, but I was really fascinated by the idea of Soulja Boy doing stand-up. Like, he would have a dance, he would have a D.J., and it would be really over-the-top…”
