High School Musical 3 out on DVD!
Published on: February 11, 2009The gang at East High returns for their senior year. There, they have to deal with figuring out college plans, prom, and the big final high school musical.
Director Kenny Ortega began as a choreographer (XANADU, ONE FROM THE HEART, FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF) and moved into directing (NEWSIES, HOCUS POCUS, episodes of THE GILMORE GIRLS). Composer David Lawrence, the son of Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme, composed films such as AMERICAN PIE as well as VAN WILDER before this series.
No matter what anyone says about the quality of the film, it wouldn’t matter to the target audience, just like the reviews of GREASE 2 didn’t keep it from being one of my favorite films 25 years ago. Some of the music is quite good. There are a couple music numbers that are a very catchy.I could say that at 117 minutes, it might be a bit too long, but I’m sure many would like to see a 217 minute version. I could also say that Zac Efron is no Kevin Bacon or Adrian Zmed, but then my niece would probably stop talking to me.
Features include:
- Deleted Scenes with Introductions by Director Kenny Ortega
- Out Of Sync: HSM 3 Bloopers
- Cast Goodbyes: The cast of HSM bids an emotional farewell to East High
- Night of Nights: Prom scene Tell All with the cast
- It's All in the Dress: The Ladies of East High dish on prom dresses

".... We’ve traveled the world and have experienced all different types of cultures, we’ve met millions of people—it’s impossible to lump it into one specific moment. One thing I have said before is I don’t know if I can chose a specific moment from this, but I think at the end of my life I will be able to say that one of the best times of my life was when I was involved with “High School Musical..."
