Ewan McGregor’s issue with the de-gaying of I Love You Phillip Morris is not a secret. “I’m very keen that it’s a gay movie, there was quite a lot of talk at Sundance (in 2009) that well, it’s not a gay movie. It’s a film about guys who happen to be gay.’ And I was thinking, it’s nothing but a gay movie. It’s about a gay couple, about a man’s sexuality, and he comes out. It’s not the point of the film, but let’s not pretend it’s not a gay film.”Ewan admits he enjoys getting close with his fellow male stars. “I like kissing boys on screen. As a straight guy, it’s quite an interesting proposition,” he explained to Out Magazine. “Anything on a film set that takes you by surprise like that, that gets your blood up, is good.”

Carrey & McGregor in New ‘I Love You Phillip Morris’ Poster

Check out the new poster for upcoming dramatic comedy I Love You Phillip Morris staring Jim Carrey (Yes Man), Ewan McGregor (The Men Who Stare at Goats), Leslie Mann (Funny People) and Rodrigo Santoro (Post Grad).
Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, I Love You Phillip Morris is the improbable but true story of a spectacularly charismatic conman’s journey from small-town businessman to flamboyant white-collar criminal, who repeatedly finds himself in trouble with the law and on the lam, brilliantly escaping from the Texas prison system on four separate occasions – all in the name of love.
Steven Russell leads a seemingly average life – an organ player in the local church, happily married to Debbie, and a member of the local police force. That is until he has a severe car accident that leads him to the ultimate epiphany: he’s gay and he’s going to live life to the fullest – even if he has to break the law to do it. Taking on an extravagant lifestyle, Steven turns to cons and fraud to make ends meet and is eventually sent to the State Penitentiary where he meets the love of his life, a sensitive, soft-spoken man named Phillip Morris. His devotion to freeing Phillip from jail and building the perfect life together prompts him to attempt (and often succeed at) one impossible con after another.
Told with an uncanny sense of humor and a lot of heart, I Love You Phillip Morris is an oddball tale of what can happen when the legal system, a daredevil spirit and undying love collide.Read the full article here.
