Inglourious Basterds Makes Christoph Waltz an Overnight Sensation

After 30 years in the acting game, Austrian-born Christoph Waltz has acquired overnight celebrity from his role as Hans Landa the Jew Hunter in Quentin Tarantino’s WWII war fantasy Inglourious Basterds. In Germany, Waltz had already attained recognition from working both on the stage and on television, but until now he had not made his mark on Hollywood. His spectacular performance earned him a best actor award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, and he is practically guaranteed a 2010 best supporting actor Oscar nomination next winter.
