OK FIRST and formost why is it that when it comes to making a movie that original concepts get shot out of the window for remakes of video games or old old movies or ancient cartoons what happened to the indepence days or the matrix type movies things that would revolutionize the business now we are just stuck in the time warp waiting for the next great remake because no one can acutally come up with an original idea. Now on to the king of fighters personally i love the game own copies of them for years and so on and so forth but why in the world would you change something that doesnt need to be changed. like the movies of old why dont directors get ideas and create there own king of fighters or there own street fighter etc etc. this movie may be a good movie but when will we see the great mortal kombat type change the face of "video game" movie again there have been few but in my opinion it really isnt that hard to make a video game real especially when the game comes with a storyline hello if it worked for almost 20 yrs with everyone in the world why not use what works and stop trying to make some new garbage up. Basics will win awards i know that and swear that and if you remember my name i will prove that one day all it takes is to realize that the game movies are already there you just need the right actors and the right person to convert but in the end good luck to the king of fighers cast and crew but pray the virus doesnt spread to your movie as well

Hey, if your life’s policy is feeding yourself with crap, so be it. But don’t attempt others to follow you on that.
Don’t come and try to sum up stuff with fancy theories. Reality’s much simpler here. We are talking of THE KING OF FIGHTERS SAGA; an arch with more than 12 years of story, continuous story that reflects a very significant part of thousands of people’s childhood. Yeah, maybe the audience is getting smarter and smarter, but in this field, even the most stupid person in the world would understand the meaning of KOF and what it might be.
Think of it (but don’t it limit to) as if the KOF movie was an essay; under this nature, I’d say that it’s OK if to claim the KOF movie as a fair adaptation WITHIN the author’s perspective. But under the very same logic, the KOF movie WOULD NOT be the real KOF. Because what you do when writing an essay is gathering information from other sources, and creating something new from your perspective. And being something new, it does not meet features to be same thing as its source.
People could agree with this movie if KOF was something like an indefinite theory, there are many of papers that start with the “Origin of the World Theory” phrase, and are accepted, even if they are completely erroneous.
Sadly, the original KOF is a LAW for hardcore fans, and you cannot change it. Thereof, it shall be dearly neglected from the KOF arch, either officially or unofficially, and this will be a constant truth.
There would not be any problem to agree with the making of this movie, if they published it under another name and gave some credit to the original KOF series for the inspiration. But no, they seem to take the flag of KOF and spit on it in a reckless way.
Now, people should not sin with innocence yelling about start power.
We don’t need super stars in a KOF movie, what is needed is CONSCIENCE; the artists to look like the characters and a fair script, nothing else. With all the respect the actress deserves, Lucy Liu would fail as a Mai, because they are not alike. Angelina Jolie, in the other hand, does look like Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), but that’s another sotry. Now, I’ll give you a nice example for “Star Power” candidates.
Think of Halle Berry (short haired) as Vice:
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/kingoffighters/images/9/99/Vice_kof.jpg
http://b3.img.v4.skyrock.net/b37/galsengirl75/pics/339509709.jpgThat would match the year 2000 and forward art. You can even get Winona Ryder as Vice, and it would match the art of the late 90’s.
http://thor.mirtna.org/oddities/lookalikes/pics/vice.jpg
By the way, it would be illogic if you attempted to match the race of the character with the artist. You have to match the dynamics of their style. The cast is very important because it is what you are going to look at 99.9% of the time. Even if you had the greatest KOF lines ever, if you don’t satisfy the basics you won’t reach any further. You’ll be prone fall, as a tree without roots. And so you’ll get the hard critics you got with the KOF 2001 game. The in-game art (visuals) was so horrible that many people disliked the game. Not to mention the poorly developed game system and music (experience).
Learn. KOF is not a name. The King of Fighters Saga is visuals & experience, prolly rough and old, but completely well defined.
So, if this movie makes it to win any of the prizes you mentioned whatsoever, it is ok! But, don’t these guys care more about movies than KOF? At least it is obvious, and understandable, (without conceding) that this movie is not a fair KOF.
It is clear to me that some people were not favored with the times, and are the result of a certain conclusive statement (mentioned before), regarding the ways of looking at stuff. Oi! Focus on, and stop dragging KOF into the quicksand of an ill-bred, blown up ego.

hi Guys I am Grant, as it says on my title up there.
All the people believes that video games and movies does not match, they believe that if you make a movie from a video game it have to be horrible, like a strict rule of life and maybe it's true don't you think ?
I would like to say cool things of this movie, I would like to say that like this "post production", but honestly, this movie does not deserve a good comment or a "high five", cause its pure deception is what I feel now, wile heard from my girlfriend that there was a king of fighters movie coming up to live action, I Got really happy I even jump all around, and I said (awesome !!! it's king of fighters from my childhood best memories, they will make a good movie I am sure!!!!! ) but It seems that I am going to be wrong...
1.- the "name" does not make the movie
Not because you use the name king of fighters it means that it have to be a king fighters and I will tell you why, what it makes it awesome is the whole structure behind, the voices, the hair style, the music, even the colors tones are essentials, if you forgot one of those, you are lost, cause you will get another weird movie to hate, it's going to end in wall mart, selling it for 2 dollars, or free by buying another action movie.
king of fighters it's a tradition.king of fighters make you say (dude, my teachers don't let my hair to grow !!!! I want to have it like Kyo)
king of fighters make you say (today it's my anniversary... hmmm I have one dollar, should buy a gift... meh with this dollar I can play king of fighters the whole day )
king of fighters make you say (ok guys.... here is the pizza, there are the drinks, the music, where the hell is the kof 2002 ?? )
king of fighters make you say (a new king fighters!!! it's going to be awesome cause you know that there is nothing like king of fighters the cd, the dvd, the neo geo cassette, a box that carries everything you like from it not just the name )
My dad had have an "Arcade Center" since I have memory, I had play all fatal furies all art of fighthings all street figthers all world heroes all guilty gears, the two last blades, all the samurai showdons, vampire hunters and every single king of fighters. I have spent allot of money and time on it and its brings me the divine right judge it.
it doesn't remember me my childhood, so what is it ?? a movie.... with just a cute name for a short business ( another money wasted ) where is the respect for all the people that loves king of fighters.
Gordon Chan and Rita Augustine, I would really like to help you, honestly I would really like to help you
I will post another comment tomorrow to speak about the cast
REY... if you make an adaptation from a cat in real life to a cartoon, you will notice that it will continues Meowing all around, but this king fighters its as wrong as if the cat where barking.
and yes,,,,,, the worst part its that the people will pay money to see the barking cat
but there is a difference, the barking cat have some originality and creative work behind.

Hi everyone,
well, i have read a lot of comments for this upcoming movie and of course they are the worst comments that i have ever seen for a movie in post production. maybe the audiences have become far more intelligent than their predecessors. But i want to ask, is it really the intelligence that has increased or is it the skepticism. i mean how can we forget about the days when hollywood used to throw crap at us in any form and we would swallow it down more easily than a tasty dessert, if you ask me, if legendary movies like Titanic and Terminator 2 were to be released in present times, i seriously doubt that they would ever be able to catch up with the trend. today's audience is more skeptical and critical when it comes to defining logic behind a movie's story or a character's capabilities.
Now, i am not defending the cast choices or how the movie is turning out to be, but i will defend the fact that it is an adaptation and an adaptation always have to face this extra criticism. extra criticism of being able to live up to its origin's success. i have been following the KOF series since 1994, i still remember waiting in line to get my chance to play as Kyo kusanagi. So, fans like us are more devastated than anyone else after casting a 'white guy' as Kyo kusanagi. Anyways coming back to the point, its not bad to to criticize at all. but why are we so partial to game based movies, why are we not so critical when it come to comic based movies, i know they receive their fair share of criticism as well. but it never really hurts the movie, a comic based movie, in fact even a novel based movie would easily make enough money to pump a sequel out of it and then in their next try they might actually make something good (examples HULK and punisher).
This brings me to my question
Why do we 'believe' and/or 'accept' a comic and/or novel based movies more than game based movies. Just because we 'think' they are true to their origins or simply because they have more star power or big names to back them up. i want to give examples of such blunders thrown at us by hollywood and us audiences fairly, if not whole heartedly accepting them. And i would also compare them against KOF's blunders, in order to support "GAME BASED MOVIES" not gordon chan or even the whole movie in that matter.Casting of Sean Faris as Kyo - how can we forget the casting of Michael C. Duncan as Kingpin in dare devil,a black guy as white guy. we swalloed that saying that at least he has the size of the guy, well sean faris may have the skill of the guy(kyo)
Actor's outfit look nothing like their Originals - Imagine Hugh jackman wearing a yellow tight suit with knee high blue leather boots, sounds more like a freak's sexual fantasy than a comic hero, so they changed it completely and we liked it, in fact he turned out to be the most popular among the others, than why the drama after a game character's outfit not being potrayed properly in a movie, which is more freakier sumtimes.
Maggie Q is "physically" not appropriate to play Mai - Turn this scenario upside down, do u think emma watson (hermoine granger) at the age of 19 looks 'physically' appropriate to play a role which was actually etched for a little girl in the novel, but we will accept it. in fact theres one already in the making for 2011 making her 21 at that time, but what can you expect from an audience who has not even seen a harry potter book in their lives. in fact the same people consider it to be nerdy to read one.
The plot is nothing like the original - how many of us even know that Wanted(2008) is based on a comic/novel and those who do, do they even know its plot. let me paste it as i have seen the pasted KOF's plot kicked around like a punctured football.
"The premise of Wanted is that all the world's super-villains decided to band together in 1986 and use their vast collective powers — including mad science, magic and mind-control to kill all the super heroes" now where does the seduction of angelina jolie that is shown throughout the movie comes in that plot, but u know why it was 'added' to the movie, because it sells, and original characters such as FUCKWIT and SHITHEAD were removed.(not joking those are the names of wanted comic's characters)
But we accepted it because more than half of us didnt even knew that it was there. than why do we worry about the likes choi and benimaru to make it to the KOF movie.
and there are so many other examples like this, as said earlier Titanic is 10 years old now who wants to see leonardo de caprio die while holding to kate winslet floating on wooden door, why are we not concerned that "cant he just swim to another nearby floating doors/platforms which can be seen clearly in the shot! and that reminded me how can someone like benjamin button even exist.
all i want to say here is that we are too skeptical about Game based movies, just because a big director is not supporting it, like peter jackson and christopher nolan with their adaptations of a previous movie and a comic respectively. it does not mean that we get more skeptical about game based movies. its my challenge to all the critics of game based movies.
Try putting johnny depp with parted hair as the 'white guy' for kyo, and buy lindy hemming who designed the costumes for dark knight, james bond and harry potter to design the costumes for the characters. than cast lucy liu for mai, as she can play a charlie's angels who are supposed to be american and well-endowed than why not KOF. and than fill the plot with more star power, special effects, mindless lines and loud sounds so that no would understand what actually happened with the story and come out as a satisfied movie goer. and i challenge all the critics of the games based movies, that the same movie with the same inappropriate casting, unmatched storyline, non-original costumes and small breasted women will make it to the taurus, cannes and even oscars.so in my belief the audience have not gotten any more intelligent, they have just changed their ways of looking at things and might have even gotten dumber.
Thank you for reading if u have read it so far. and take care.

Well, as a gamer and future movie maker, I can honestly say that I have alot of High expectations for this movie, since I am an expert of the game myself. There are alot of elements that they have to keep in mind while makeing this movie. For instance explaining how Iori obtained the powers he with holds, due to the clan he was in. And sticking with the look. Of course not cheesy, but rather an moderate interpretation of how the charcters would look like in a real life situation. The KOF characters are already set to there own style in which sort of defines who and how they are. I believe Vice, Mature, and especialy Iori should keep there same clothing. Those character's outfits where ahead of there time and is hot and stylish now a days, in a form as Japanese and Americans would call gothic lolita, wich is very populer in Tokyo right now. But all in all, I the Gordan Chang and the Producers have a grasp on the idea so far. I just hope they keep and bring the true SNK style and tradition alive.
P.S.
I wish they room for a Rookie movie maker to climb aboard. I think I could help them with this movie.
After all, this movie was one of my main goals for a movie. -
