Lakeview Terrace

HollywoodChicago.com has interviewed "Lakeview Terrace" director Neil LaBute. LaBute raves about the film's excellent cast and also touches on the clash of authority, class and race. "Lakeview Terrace" is about a widowed police officer (Samuel Jackson) raising two kids in a cul-de-sac called Lakeview Terrace. When a mixed race couple moves next door, Jackson's character snaps and stops at nothing to force the newly weds out of Lakeview Terrace. The film opened September 19th at the top of the box office charts.

"...In my films and plays, I’ve always been interested in power and how power is used and misused. Sam represents a character who is in a job as a cop that’s different than any other job out there in our country..."

News Blaze chats with "Lakeview Terrace" star Samuel Jackson. Jackson dissusses the prominent topics of the film including racism, interracial marriage, and the LAPD. He also talks about the first time he fell in love, his upcoming film "Soul Men" and and being one of the highest paid actors around.

"...It's not my fault! All it means is that I've been fortunate enough to be in a couple of films that made a lot of money. Most of them called Star Wars!"

About.com has posted an interview with Samuel L. Jackson about his latest thriller "Lakeview Terrace". Mr. Jackson shares the difficulties he encountered while filming and the depth of his character. Although he has lost count of how many cops he's played, Jackson said he feels extremely comfortable in the role, and that it wasn't anything he planned.

"...I've been trained by the LAPD, the SWAT team, the Secret Service, FBI, CIA, Navy Seals, the Marines, Army, Navy. So, I have a lot of gun training and a lot of law enforcement training. So, it's been kind of cool being able to do all that stuff and fire live weapons and see if you're able to use them..."

Black Voices has recently spoken to "Lakeview Terrace" star Kerry Washington. Ms. Washington opens up about the film and interracial relations, as well as her own experience with color. "Lakeview Terrace", which premiers Sept. 19th, is about a newlywed couple struggling with their next-door neighbor who disapproves of their interracial marriage.

Kerry Washington also tells Black Voices about working with Samuel Jackson, and her favorite scenes in the film.

"...I love the scene where we are yelling while Sam is cutting down our tree. It's such a good scene because it was chaos for everyone. It was a really funny scene to shoot..."

Neil LaBute, director of "Lakeview Terrace", takes some time out to chat with The Philidelphia Daily. The film, which stars Samuel L. Jackson, Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington, was also produced by Will Smith, and is set to release September 19th.

LaBute also touches on Will Smith, Samuel L. Jackson, as well as his own reputation as 'some kind of a monster'.

"...Early on I was labeled as a misogynist, so everything was based off of that, like, "This doesn't have as much misogyny." That or a misanthrope. You have to ride that wave and not let that affect you..."

Patrick Wilson Discusses the Thriller "Lakeview Terrace"

Wilson plays a newly wed who has just moved into his dream home, however, problems soon arise with their neighbor. Wilson talks about his character, the conflicts and working with Samuel L. Jackson.

"...It's great. You know I try and remember what my perceptions were, I guess. Of course we've all seen him in quite a few films but the biggest thing that stuck out to me were the first couple of days of shooting, you know? I'd never seen him with a pair of sides - like whatever preparation and whatever he does is so much in his world. I think that's the fascination, at least I have with other actors, is how each person sort of prepares and I sort of love that..."
