Almost Heaven

MARK BRADY (Donal Logue) is on a collision course with personal and professional self-destruction. With his reputation in British Columbia ruined, Mark is little more than a drunken party boy, hungry for anything that will make his days and nights slip by painlessly. Given a last chance to rehabilitate himself and his career, Mark is assigned to direct International Fishing Adventures, a fishing show produced for Canada's fictitious Adventure Network and set in the majestic Borders region of Scotland. There are, however, two conditions to his new job: he must stay sober and he must work closely with the show's temperamental star, TAYA HONEYWELL - his ex-wife.

Once in Scotland, everything that can possibly go wrong does. Taya drives the show's traditional fishing guide or ghillie off the set in an hilarious battle of wits and wills and low water levels in Scotland's rivers ensure that there are no fish to be found, let alone photographed. Mark grapples for a chance to change himself but, surrounded by fine Scottish whisky and lovely lasses, he falls right back into his old ways.

Days go by with no sign of a single fish. In a desperate attempt to save the TV series from cancellation Mark poaches a dead fish from witty pub owner and local sage BERT GORDON (Tom Conti) to stage a catch for the cameras. It all goes horribly wrong and he is busted by the gorgeous NICKI McADAM (Kirsty Mitchell) - female ghillie extraordinaire. Mark finds himself drawn to her and the simplicity and warmth of her quiet rural life. For the first time in years he opens the door to his heart.

But are his feelings strong enough to keep him away from the bottle and on the straight and narrow?

Quirky and hilarious Almost Heaven is a delightful, heart-warming romantic comedy.
