Above the Line
Director
Soren Johnstone
Bio
Soren Johnstone was born May 12th, 1981 in Vancouver, Canada. From an early age he expressed interest in writing and filmmaking. Starting out in the action sports world he produced five films from 1998-2001. Wanting to move forward in filmmaking he directed and edited the 2007 feature length documentary, ‘Hicks on Sticks’. Before the documentary’s release he finished the final draft of what would be called ‘Play with Fire’. With his producing partner, Michael Babiarz, they dove mercilessly deep and hard into the 16 month production hell of ‘Fire’. Both of the films are scheduled for 2009 release dates.
Director- Job Description
The principal creative artist on a movie set. A director is usually (but not always) the driving artistic source behind the filming process, and communicates to actors the way that he/she would like a particular scene played. A director's duties might also include casting, script editing, shot selection, shot composition, and editing. Typically, a director has complete artistic control over all aspects of the movie, but it is not uncommon for the director to be bound by agreements with either a producer or a studio. In some large productions, a director will delegate less important scenes to a second unit director 2UD.
