"POSTAL" Movie Campaign Delivers Raves in NY, Chicago"

Tucson, AZ: SRO advance screenings of Uwe Boll’s “Postal” at New York’s Tribeca Film Center on April 1 and April 3 in Chicago have created genuine buzz regarding the film’s May 23rd rollout. The popular site Times Square Gossip, in a story entitled “Osama Bin Laden Goes time last night with Village People icon Randy Jones at the screening of ‘Postal’, the new movie based on the hit video game. This is a must see movie if you want to have some old time laughs. Scenes with Osama Bin Laden are so funny you are going to drop your popcorn…”

Times Square Gossip went on to attest: “’Postal’ will take you back to all the laughs you had as a teen. I haven't seen a movie this funny since then, with the audience yelling and falling on the floor laughing.”

Michael J. Hein, Director of The New York City City Horror Film Festival, declares: “’Postal’ is the funniest film of the year…hands down!”

After the New York event, Uwe and Vince Desi, RWS’s ringleader; took part in a no-holds-barred Q&A session with the audience. Packed houses in both New York and Chicago enjoyed the latest cut of the film. “The most recent edits have really sharpened the film,” reports Big Apple-native Desi, who took a break from developing POSTAL III at Running With Scissors’ Tucson headquarters.

Meanwhile, POSTAL fan Tara “Evilstara” Jarvis attended the Chicago sneak preview and wrote: “[My husband and] I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants and he had tears in his eyes. It was awesome!”

"To: Everybody
We, the undersigned, believe that Uwe Boll must not under any circumstances be forbidden from making screen versions of the videogames. ‘Cause herr Boll is the kind of genius. May be an evil one, but still a genius. His films can be blamed for bad photography, terrible acting, stupid script and other sins, but you cannot take away one thing – “masterpieces” of Uwe Boll always (almost always) give us hour and a half or two of healthy, cheerful, rollicking laugh. And it as you know is good for the length of life.

Finally, outrageously bad adaptation is always better than mediocre adaptation, and in this sense Uwe have never failed us. So let the favourite of all the devoted moviegoers with the sense of humour not only lives and prospers, but will continue in bringing us joy with his works.

Diehard GameFan has posted an interview with 'Postal' director Uwe Boll. Matt Yeager discusses how excited he was to be able to talk to the notirious director. He asked Boll how he got involved with 'Postal'.

"Actually the Postal fan club approached me and I had never played the game before, so I played it and I had a lot of fun playing it. I think it’s, uh, I had a lot of fun playing it. It’s not a game that’s so great because of the technical stuff that is in it or the great production value, but it had a kind of underground, anarchistic feeling and I saw here an opportunity to make something special. And this is basically what I did and it gave me an opportunity to work in a different genre. I’ve done horror and action before, but to switch the genres a little and to make like an action comedy was a great possibility."

To all of you writing now about me and the fact that POSTAL is not getting screens. its okay ..its fun kicking a guy nonstop who is on the ground you are all not getting it that i'm the guy who made it against the big hollywood system and you are all only busy to destroy me and finish me up and then you YOU WON WHAT ? the attention of the studios, michael bay .. ????? if you damage me you feel closer to Hollywood ? what is your game plan? you want only movies like JUMPER , SPEED RACER , WHAT HAPPENDS IN VEGAS ...? then keep going and your dreams will be fullfilled. POSTAL makes some very important points ..but you dont wanna see that .... : that Bush used the SEPTEMBER 11 to start a war against a country what had nothing to do with Bin Laden etc.... but this all doesnt matter because you are all busy to THINK that INDIANA JONES or NARNIA are important movies ... but in real they are empty shells of an industry what wants to make money and what wants to keep you looking "escape movies" with nothing in it. in between they are putting some CONTROVERSIAL movies to show that they can do also IMPORTANT movies ...but also this movies are not really critical....they only supporting the system and not showing the big picture. and POSTAL shows the BIG PICTURE ...it nails the absurd situation with all the stupid religions, races and nations we are living in. Dreams Can Come True With Uwe Boll

Below is a letter sent to Uwe from a once disgruntled Boll Hater: Hello Sir, I am not sure how to start this. I will say that this is NOT a negative letter. Maybe I should start by saying a little bit about where I am coming from? I apologize in advance if I am long winded, I imagine you are busy. I have been a member of several internet communities and for whatever reasons they decided to target you as someone to pick on over the years. Not having even seen a movie by you, for whatever reason, I fed into it. I don’t know if it was just being part of something or what. I can only really speak for myself and I can’t give a good answer. This is probably because there isn’t a good reason. I think maybe that is the best answer. I even signed that petition. I regret that very much. I know that signing it would never achieve anything since it is just a random petition. I tend to sign those things because they take a brief moment to finish. Someone posts a message with a link on it; you click the link, type your name, and then try to one-up everyone else’s comments. When in reality, taking a step back, looking at what I am saying by signing it, looking at who the target is, etc takes a longer and ultimately might lead people to having to admit that maybe they are wrong. I was wrong. I didn’t know who you were, why was a targeting someone I did not know? It is one thing maybe to criticize a movie but to target a person behind a movie, someone I know nothing about, is wrong. So I did a little research and learned that Hollywood is very unsupportive and you basically build each movie from the ground up on your own (with your associates). That is pretty admirable. Another thing I learned is that despite all these negative people that go to great lengths to make your life miserable, you don’t flinch and continue to create films. Why would someone continue to make films despite all of this negativity? How could they? Well I learned that movies are your passion. I have to imagine that before you started making movies that being a director was just a dream to you. So in a sense you went after your dream. That is something many people are afraid to do. I know I am. There are a lot of risks involved and failure could mean some very bad things as far as where you end up in life. So just to pursue your dream and pursue without any help from those who could give the most (Hollywood) and with all this negativity, well it takes guts. So I must say after taking a step back, realizing that it was ignorant of me to feed into the negativity, and realizing it was wrong for me to just accept the negativity as true, that I respect you. I know that I am just one, but maybe it will drown out the noise of all the negativity just a bit for a little while. That makes it worth it. I wish you the very best on your future endeavors and hope you continue following your dreams. Maybe it will inspire me to not accept my position in life and at least give one of my dreams a shot. World's worst filmmaker has 'fans' going Postal

The Toronto Star has posted an article anbout Uwe Boll's latest film, 'Postal'. The comedy covers a lot of controversial issues and has put hte director in the hot seat. There's even a petition to stop him from making any more films.

"What has since happened is that a U.S. gum company is sponsoring the anti-Boll petition, and anybody who votes against me gets a free package of gum. So I think for me that is the best excuse not to accept the validity of the petition."

Rotten Tomatoes has posted an interview with 'Posta' director Uwe Boll. The film opened in theaters last friday. Uwe talks about Micheal Bay, answers questions from fans, and talks about his relationship with the makers of the 'Postal' video game.

"And then later when I actually finished the writing, and I started shooting, then slowly I convinced [Vince] and now he loves the movie. And he's also in the movie, trying to kill me! When he was on set he had a blast, and now he's a big fan. It's the only video game company ever who supports the movie so much."

Postal, the newest film from the director you love to hate, Dr. Uwe Boll. For those who may not be in the know, Mr. Boll has garnered quite a name for himself by acquiring the rights to popular video game franchises (such as House of the Dead and Bloodrayne) and releasing film adaptations that many fans feel are horrendous bastardizations of the beloved source material. In other words, he turns their favorite games into crappy movies. In 2006, he also challenged several of his harshest critics to boxing matches (Boll used to be an amateur lightweight boxer) and proceeded to beat the living piss out of them for what he feels are unfair reviews (should I be scared?). As if the reputation of the film's writer/director wasn't notorious enough, Postal itself has already received the distinction (mostly via the internet, of course) of quite possibly being one of the most downright offensive films ever made; an accusation which many viewers might very likely find to be entirely true. The main character, who throughout the film is only referred to as "the Postal Dude" (Zack Ward), is a guy who just can't seem to get a break. He's totally broke, living in a trailer park with his incredibly overweight wife (who happens to be cheating on him) and can't even seem to land the most menial, cookie-cutter office job. Meanwhile his Uncle Dave (Dave Foley), a bogus religious guru who has duped hundreds of his "followers" out of money while he secretly lives a life of nightly, drug addled orgies at his commune, thinks he is sitting in the lap of luxury, until he finds out he owes over a million dollars in back taxes. In order to maintain his decadent party lifestyle and keep himself out of serious trouble, he comes up with a hair brained scheme to steal a huge shipment of the country's newest toy sensation, the Krotchy Doll (which looks like male genitalia with a cute smiley face) and make a fortune selling them via online auctions. Just when the Postal Dude's day seemingly can't get any worse, a botched robbery attempt by some low life street thug finally makes him snap (aka "go postal") and he winds up accidentally shooting him. Realizing that he's now already a fugitive and that he has nowhere else to go, he agrees to help his Uncle Dave heist the Krotchy Dolls from Little Germany, an amusement park themed like the Motherland (owned by none other than Uwe Boll himself), which happens to be the only place in the country that has the dolls for sale. Too bad they don't know that the shipment of dolls is also the target of a group of terrorists who want to use them to carry a biological weapon which will infect the entire populace. As you can imagine, all hell breaks loose in a hail of bullets as everyone converges on Little Germany in an attempt to get their hands on the precious dolls. If this all sounds a little ridiculous, that's because it is. Rather than take the original concept of the game and create a gritty tale of a man who cracks under the pressure of day to day life a la Taxi Driver or Falling Down, Boll has decided to go completely the other direction and craft an extremely in your face, politically incorrect comedy in the style of Kentucky Fried Movie. His goal seems to be a return to form of the low brow comedy of yesteryear, filled with the kinds of vulgar jokes and taboo situations that would make today's censors gasp in sheer horror, as a kind of middle finger in the face of all the watered down films of the past decade and our overly sensitive social climate in general. Boll certainly succeeds on that level, without a doubt; Postal is incredibly offensive and pulls absolutely no punches, attempting in one way or another to shock absolutely everyone. Whatever your soft spot is, Postal's got it - there's tons of violence, blood, explosions, drug use, crude sexual content, gross bodily functions, dirty jokes, racist jokes about practically every culture imaginable (Blacks, Jews, Arabs, Asians, etc.), Nazi/holocaust jokes, jokes about retarded people, lots of children getting shot, a scene where a cat is used as a silencer (taken from the game), and an extended Dave Foley full frontal nude scene (possibly the most shocking thing of all?). Keep in mind, however, that while these all sound like absolutely horrible things that no one in their right mind should laugh at, the film is so over-the-top and silly that much of the harsh edge is taken away, ensuring that the jokes are taken as just that, and not as malicious attacks. Director Boll also uses Postal as an opportunity to infuse a more serious message amongst the humor, taking shots at some personal issues (like his penchant for turning video games into movies, those pesky critics again, and even poking fun at himself) as well as an avenue to present some of his political ideals, taking jabs at George Bush, the U.S. Government, Osama Bin Laden, the Taliban, and religious fundamentalists. Whether or not this attempt to get across some greater message by mixing it in with toilet humor will work as effectively as it's intended is unclear (I'm not sure if it shows through the silliness strongly enough), but I suppose it's up to each individual viewer to decide whether they take away anything more than simple entertainment. In fact, the film itself is truly an acquired taste; think South Park as a live action movie and you're on the right track. Now, if you're not the type who thinks that inappropriate, off color style of humor is funny, well then I probably don't need to tell you that you should steer clear of Postal; I'm sure you've already figured it out and probably stopped reading this review long ago. But if you're amongst that niche of the population that has a “sick” sense of humor and not only finds offensive jokes funny, but actually prefers them to the kind of safe, family friendly kneeslappers they feed you on TV sitcoms, then this is undeniably the movie for you.

Postal director is ready for critics

Metro News Toronto has posted an article about Uwe Boll's 'Postal'. The director is considered to have made some of the worst films, and is famous for challenging his critics to a boxing match. Boll doesn't let the negative reviews get him down, and instead continues to direct andproduce more films. 'Postal' is his latest film, the first time he's taken a stab at comedy.

“I think movies like Life Of Brian would never get financed in the world today and I felt that, and I still feel that, Postal is one of the rare, ruthless, anarchistic comedies made. In that context it’s good that a movie like Postal is made.”

Uwe Boll sees 'Postal' disservice

Says theaters snubbed his black comedy over politics

The Hollywood Reporter has posted an article about the release of 'Postal'. Directed by Uwe Boll, the film has had significant troubing finding a wide theatrical release. Boll claims that the controversal subject matter of the film is to blame, and that distributors are scared to touch it.

"This is for me very disappointing, to be honest," Boll said Wednesday. "They don't like the political content. This is my personal feeling after trying for four or five weeks to get the distributors to book it. It's a ruthless comedy and makes jokes about Sept. 11 and all kinds of stuff, but at the same time I feel like it's my best-received movie so far."

The Los Angeles Times has posted an article about Uwe Boll's 'Postal'. The film opens in theaters today, against the box office heavyweight 'Indiana Jones'. Boll had anticipated a wide release of the film, but it's controversal subject has left many distributors unwilling to touch the film.

"Thus his plan to wrestle Indy appears to have hit a snag. "Postal," which opens today at the Laemmle in Santa Monica and the Culver Plaza Theater in Culver City, failed to attract a crumb on the multiplex schedules of the giant AMC and Regal cinema chains, forcing Boll to do what he has sometimes done in the past -- cobble together a release himself, a hodgepodge of bookings and/or screen rentals."
