RocknRolla director Guy Ritchie likes his gangster obsession

The Straight has caught up with ‘RocknRolla’ director Guy Ritchie. Ritchie explains the title of the movie, ‘rocknrolla’ and how much he fancies the dark side. Ritchie goes on to share his obsession with gangsters, comic books, and London. ‘RocknRolla’ stars Gerard Butler, Gemma Arterton, Thandie Newton, Jermey Piven and Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges. ‘RocknRolla’ is out in theaters.

“I’m drawn to the dark side because it’s an interesting world for stories,” Ritchie said. “We like bad guys, and…what’s that tiny little movie that just came out that’s done rather well? Dark Knight. Everyone liked the Joker, right? The Joker’s the bad guy. So we’re drawn to the bad guy, and I’m not unique in that respect. The trouble is, I fancy bad guys.”

MovieHole has caught up with the cast of 'RocknRolla', which includes director Guy Ritchie, Gerard Butler, Idris Elba, Jeremy Piven, and Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges. The cast talk about why they choose to do 'RocknRolla', their characters and how they fit into the story. The actors also dish on what it was like to work with Ritchie. 'RocknRolla' is out in theaters.

"...Guy has this thing. The crew knows as soon as he says: ‘Five, four...' At first, I was like: what's going to happen? That's action. You got to say your line. He counts down to the action. That was new to me and interesting. Suddenly you see the whole room focusing, getting into the Guy Ritchie space, which is a good thing. It's great, actually..."
