John Banovich

Canadian director, John Banovich, a thirteen year veteran in the film industry, has been recognized for his involvement on countless projects, tv series and commercials.
He won two international awards for his documentary work, one of which starred international activist, David Suzuki (“The Nature of Thingsâ€).
A talented director, John was well on his way to a successful career in film, when a serious accident changed everything. Severely injured when he was hit by a drunk driver, he endured over sixty surgeries before he was back behind the camera.
John became a spokesperson for “Mothers Against Drinking†and has won several awards for his creative and directing involvement with the MADD TV campaigns.
His most notable awards include two Telly awards, a Summit award, two Aurora awards, and a Gallant award for a series of commercials he wrote and produced for MADD.
John has been spending a large portion of his time teaching cinematography at various institutes including the Vancouver Film School, the Art Institute, and Trinity Western University.
