Bio

MICHAEL KAPLAN designed the costumes for the recent apocalyptic sci-fi blockbuster “I Am Legend.â€� He previously won a BAFTA Award for his work on Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking futuristic drama “Blade Runner.â€� He also set off a fashion trend for an entire generation with his costume designs for Adrian Lyne’s “Flashdance.â€� Kaplan also designed the costumes for Doug Liman’s action comedy hit “Mr. & Mrs. Smithâ€� starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and Michael Mann’s “Miami Viceâ€� starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx. Kaplan reunited with Ridley Scott to design the costumes for “Matchstick Men.â€� In addition, he has collaborated multiple times with director David Fincher, on the films “Panic Room,â€� “Fight Club,â€� “The Gameâ€� and Se7enâ€�; with Michael Bay, on “Pearl Harborâ€� and “Armageddonâ€�; and with Jeremiah Chechik on “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.â€� Kaplan also designed the costumes for such films as Edward Norton’s directorial debut “Keeping the Faith,â€� Harold Becker’s “Maliceâ€� and Taylor Hackford’s “Against All Odds.â€�

Costume Designer- Job Description

Person who, in consultation with the director and production designer, designs, creates or acquires all warbrobe and costumes needed for a production. They also ensure that extra sets of cloting in the right sizes are available for stunt and photo doubles and stand-ins.
