Synopsis

STAR WARS takes on a dazzling new look in the first-ever animated feature from Lucasfilm Animation - STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS. As the Clone Wars sweep through the galaxy, the heroic Jedi Knights struggle to maintain order and restore peace. More and more systems are falling prey to the forces of the dark side as the Galactic Republic slips further and further under the sway of the Separatists and their never-ending droid army. Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano find themselves on a mission with far-reaching consequences, one that brings them face-to-face with crime lord Jabba the Hutt. But Count Dooku and his sinister agents, including the nefarious Asajj Ventress, will stop at nothing to ensure that Anakin and Ahsoka fail at their quest. Meanwhile, on the front lines of the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda lead the massive clone army in a valiant effort to resist the forces of the dark side...

    The Galactic Binder has interviewed Star Wars artist David Rabbitte. Rabbitte talks about moving to the states around '78 and witnessing the first craze over star wars. He also expresses his experiences going to college with fellow Star Wars artist Kilian Plunkett in Dublin. The artist goes on to share his big break into the Star Wars world, his influences and the process for completing his sketch cards - characer selection, dealing with the volume of work and the pros and cons of working on such a small canvas for 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'. 

    "...Ralph McQuarrie's production paintings for the Star Wars trilogy were such an inspiration to me growing up. We had the portfolios from all three movies so I would study his work and try and learn from him. I had the pleasure of meeting him in ’97 at a local convention and he was a real nice guy. He signed a poster for me of that classic shot of Vader and Luke with the breathing mask dueling with lightsabers from the original movie in the Blockade Runner..."

  • Animated Star Wars arrives soon while Indy 5 much later, Lucas says

    The National Post has posted an interview with 'Star Wars' creator George Lucas. The director of the original series talks about the latest film in the series. 'The Clone Wars' is completely animated and was initially meant to be a tv show.

    "...Lucas confirmed that originally Clone Wars was meant to be just a TV series but the story and the animation came together so well he decided to do a major motion picture release as a high profile way to kick off the show..."
