Bio
ADRIEN BRODY (Bloom) has made an indelible impression on Hollywood. His Oscar win for his performance in Roman Polanski’s The Pianist made him the youngest person to ever win the Academy Award for Best Actor. His portrayal of Wladyslaw Szpilman also earned him Best Actor nominations from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Screen Actors Guild and BAFTA. Other accolades included honors from the César Awards (French equivalent of the Oscars), the Boston Society of Film Critics and the National Society of Film Critics. Brody’s upcoming feature films include Dario Argento’s Giallo, on which he also served as executive producer; Vincenzo Natali’s sci-fi film Splice, starring Sarah Polley; and Darnell Martin’s Cadillac Records, in which Brody stars as Chess Records’ pioneering founder Leonard Chess. Brody was most recently seen in Wes Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited and Menno Meyjes’ biopic Manolete. Other recent credits include Allen Coulter’s crime drama Hollywoodland, starring opposite Ben Affleck and Diane Lane; Peter Jackson’s King Kong, with Naomi Watts; John Maybury’s The Jacket, opposite Keira Knightley; and M. Night Shyamalan’s dramatic thriller The Village, with Joaquin Phoenix, William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver. Brody was born and raised in New York City, where he attended the High School for Performing Arts and then the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He first came to prominence for his role in Steven Soderbergh’s King of the Hill. He garnered further critical praise in Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam and Barry Levinson’s Liberty Heights. He also starred in Eli Chouraqui’s Harrison’s Flowers and in the ensemble film The Singing Detective, opposite Robert Downey, Jr., Mel Gibson and Robin Wright Penn. Other film credits include Charles Shyer’s romantic drama The Affair of the Necklace, opposite Hilary Swank; Ken Loach’s Bread & Roses; Terrence Malick’s The Thin Red Line; The Last Time I Committed Suicide, with Keanu Reeves; and Eric Bross’ Ten Benny.
