Brae Norwiss
Brae Norwiss began experimenting with filmmaking at the early age of thirteen when he and some friends filmed remakes of movies such as “The Mist” and “The Shining.” Brae pursued drama at the University of Calgary and then furthered his film education at the Vancouver Film School where he was able to explore his love of editing. Upon graduating from VFS, Brae worked at MGM as an assistant editor for many years before deciding to try to make it as an independent film editor and to pursue his directing career. All the while, as Brae pursued his editing career, he consistently made short films. Many of the films were collaborations with good friends, and several were solo efforts. One of Brae’s collaborative efforts, “Weiner,” ran nation-wide several times on CBC’s Zed. Recently, Brae received a grant from BC Film and the Director’s Guild to make the short film, “Pappy and Speedster”, in which he fulfilled the roles of director and editor and found it to be simultaneously the most challenging and rewarding project of his career. As a film editor, Brae worked with director Pale Christian Thomas on the feature “Quest for Samurai.” Most recently, Brae had the pleasure of working with director Micheal
Bafaro on his thriller, “The Cycle.” Thus far, working on “The Cycle” has afforded Brae the best opportunity to explore his creative and inventive side as an editor.
