The Light of Family Burnam Producer Doug Kerr has been an avid filmmaker and storyteller from the time he was a child and has carried his passion forward, creating a unique voice and outlook for himself and gaining recognition as an aspiring talent worth watching.
While completing his three year advanced film diploma at Capilano College, Doug excelled in his classes, earning a DeanÕs List distinction throughout the majority of his studies. During his time he produced several shorts including Home and Molina and the VSFF Best Picture nominated Lost and Found. Doug also directed the Leo Award nominated Three AM in 2007.
Since his time at the college, Doug has worked on professional productions as a Production Assistant and Sound Person and has continued to work as a producer on short projects including the Crazy 8s 1980s comedy throwback Under Pressure.
When Marshall Axani, another Capilano College alumni, approached Doug with the script to The Light of Family Burnam in the summer of 2007, Doug immediately saw the potential. The two teamed up and went on to win the inaugural MPPIA short film award at the Whistler Film Festival, providing them with a $15 000 budget and up to $100 000 of in-kind services to produce The Light of Family Burnam.
Under the close guidance of MPPIA members Tom Adair and Crawford Hawkins and with the personal mentorship of Shawn Williamson, Doug is more than prepared to handle the production tasks for The Light of Family Burnam.
