Bio

JAYMES HINKLE marks his fourth feature collaboration with director David R. Ellis on "The Final Destination." Previously, he served as production designer on Ellis's films "Cellular," "Snakes on a Plane" and "Asylum." Hinkle began in the art department on such films as the "Die Hard" and "Lethal Weapon" franchises, as well as "Blade Runner," "Heaven's Gate," "Thief" and "48 Hrs." He eventually worked his way to art director on the HBO series "Tales from the Crypt," and then to production designer on the TV movie "Parker Kane." As production designer, his feature credits include "What Love Is," "Rebound," "The Perfect Score," "Hard Ball," "Ready to Rumble," "A Texas Funeral," "Varsity Blues," "Loaded Weapon 1," "Passenger 57" and "Ricochet."

In the past, between film projects, Hinkle sharpened his skills on television commercials and music videos. He now finds creative enjoyment in plein air painting and the restoration of his vintage Airstream trailer.

Production Designer- Job Description

The PD is engaged when the scale of, or the approach to, the production requires special coordination between several departments. The PD's duties include: (a) generating set design sketches and renderings, location selections and treatments; and design concepts relating to the set decoration, properties, special effects, lighting, costuming, make-up and hair; (b) collaborating with the Producer, Director and DOP to realize these elements on film; (c) working with the Director and DOP to determine key shots; (d) establishing production budgets and schedules in conjunction with the Producer and Director; (working the the Art Director and the applicable departments to achieve the style of a motion picture production.
