Synopsis
In 18th century England, a young farmer finds his world falling apart as he discovers a tangle of past lies and betrayals when his father dies. He is evicted from the farm he thought was his and turned away from the woman he loves. First in desperation, then for revenge, he becomes the highway robber of the poem and fulfills its horrific conclusion.

The Highwayman Came Riding

One company that was working on incentives is Douglas County–based Inferno Film Productions, currently shooting The Highwayman, based on the Alfred Noyes narrative poem about a tragic love story. The film is arguably a $600,000 production, but because much of the equipment was already owned, only about $200,000 in expenditures qualify for the 10 percent rebate, says Darlene Cypser, Inferno president and co-owner and the film’s producer. For Cypser, the rebates may mean more money for her next film. But they did not play into the decision on where to film. “We’re located here in Colorado,” she says. “For us, it doesn’t make sense to go anywhere else.” -
Making the Highwayman

Production began this month on The Highwayman based on Alfred Noyes' well-known poem of the same name, The Highwayman is set in 18th century England but is being filmed over 4,000 miles away (and over 5000 feet higher in elevation) in Colorado.
