Watchmen "Owl Ship" Lands at Universal City Walk

The Owl Ship—the unique mode of transportation seen in the new movie—“Watchmen” will be on display at Universal City Walk from Thursday afternoon through Sunday, March 8. The model, used in the making of the movie, will be in front of the AMC Theatres, where “Watchmen” begins showing at midnight, Thursday March 5. Visitors to City Walk will be able to go right up to the door and look into the Owl Ship, whose electronics will be on and functioning

In “Watchmen,” the flying Owl Ship is an engineering marvel that was created by the character known as Nite Owl, who named it Archimedes, nicknamed “Archie.” The Nite Owl used the Owl Ship to help him patrol the streets and combat crime.

A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, “Watchmen” is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock"—which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union moves closer to midnight.

When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the outlawed but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach uncovers a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the Watchmen?

“Watchmen” is directed by Zack Snyder from a screenplay by David Hayter and Alex Tse, based on the graphic novel co-created by Dave Gibbons, published by DC Comics. The film is produced by Lawrence Gordon, Lloyd Levin, and Deborah Snyder. Herbert W. Gains and Thomas Tull are the executive producers, with Wes Coller serving as co-producer. The film stars Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Patrick Wilson.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Paramount Pictures present, in Association with Legendary Pictures, a Lawrence Gordon/Lloyd Levin Production, a Zack Snyder Film, “Watchmen,” being distributed domestically by Warner Bros. Pictures and internationally by Paramount Pictures.

Watchmen Movie Contest

Early Watchmen movie contest feedback suggests that the contest is tough! We agree - the answers are pretty obscure unless you are a super-fan of The Watchmen.

Like Nietzsche says, “What does not kill me, makes me stronger.” So with this in mind, here’s a few clarifications:

1) the trailer before the video is not *the* video - watch the whole video after the trailer to spot any references to The Watchmen

2) there are 16 total references and you only need 5 to enter - Note: some clues are even clickable to help find more info

Interview with Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Jeffrey Dean Morgan's career began to soar once he landed a guest role on Grey's Anatomy (TV). The 42 year old actor now finds himself landing sought-after roles such as Edward Blake a.k.a. The Comedian in the graphic novel adaptation Watchmen.

Edward Blake is a disreputable and chauvinistic ex-superhero who is murdered which drives his former colleague, a masked vigilante named Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley), to begin investigations of the culprit. Slowly we can see it leads to a much more terrifying conclusion.

Morgan talks a little bit about his career and this new DC comic adaption. Watchmen is out in a couple days!

"...I thought it was the coolest-looking costume – but man, it was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever worn. I remember I was sitting in a chair at one stage, reading the paper before my next scene, and when I had to get up I couldn’t … I couldn’t get out of the chair!..."

Director Zack Snyder has spoken with IF Magazine about his latest adaptation 'Watchmen'. Snyder talks about the challenges from adapting a comic thought to be an unadaptable graphic novel, and describes his directorial process as 'weird'. He also talks about the comic book fans, his favorite character and what his dream film might be... 'Watchmen' stars Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Patrick Wilson. 'Watchmen' is out in theaters now.

"...he cool thing for them seeing the movie, at this point in popular culture, would be like reading the graphic novel when it first came out in 1985. You read every comic book, and you read WATCHMEN and it f*cks you up. You think it’s the FANTASTIC FOUR, and it’s not. So [people will now] go to the movie [thinking] it’s like BATMAN on steroids, “let’s go see it,” and I hope it will f*ck them p in the same way..."

The Los Angeles Times chats with "Watchmen" graphic novel author Alan Moore about his plans to bring the epic superhero story to big screens this spring. Moore chats also talks about the adaptions of the novel, the legal matters and his reputation for being recluse. Watchmen is due in theaters March 2009 and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Matthew Goode, Jackie Earle Haley and Patrick Wilson.

Comis 2 Film has posted an article on 'Watchmen'. Directed by Zack Snyder, the film is a faithful adaptation of Allen Moore's classic graphic novel. 'Zack and Miri Make a Porno' director Kevin Smith was lucky enough to have an advanced screening of the film, and he weights in with his opinion.

Can Mag has posted an interview with 'Watchmen' star Malin Akerman. She plays Silk Spectre II, daughter of the original Silk Spectre from the cult graphic novel by Allen Moore.

"...sometimes can be frustrating when you get a big studio involved. They sometimes put their hands in it a bit too much and then all of a sudden the director doesn't get to create something that he really wants to create. It becomes a mixer so that was the one thing that was for me the most amazing experience is that Zack with all these visions was allowed to do what he wanted to do. They gave him, they just said, 'Go for it.' That for us in turn becomes a phenomenal experience..."

The Comedian is here to let you know... Rope of Silicon has posted an interview with 'Watchmen' star Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He plays The Comedian in the feature film adaptation of Alan Moore's graphic novel from the 1980's. He talks about the difficulty of playing such a dark character.

"...This is stuff that's a little different than anything I have ever done, and it was stuff that I had a hard time with. There are a couple of things The Comedian does, and I never ever in a million years thought there was something I would have to think twice about, as an actor, but I could make no excuses for it. There were a couple of rough days of filming where I was just like, 'This is tough.'..."

Can Mag has posted an interview with Watchmen star Earle Haley, who plays the character Rorschach. The film has generated a lot of buzz after Comic Con this year. Haley talks about getting in costume and being on set with his co star Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Carla Gugino & Malin Akerman hung out and developed a strong mother-daughter bond for their scenes in Watchmen.

Comic Book Movie has posted an interview with two of 'Watchmen's leading ladies, Carla Gugino and Malin Akerman. Although the two women are nearly the same age, they play mother and daughter, and both wear the Silk Spectre outfit. Gugino explains that she was taken aback when first approached by director Zack Snyder.

A guy that seems to know what it takes to bring this story to life

Rope Of Silicon has posted an interview with 'Watchmen' director Zack Snyder. Two years ago he was at Comic Con supporting his film '300' and was rumored to be directing the feature film adaptation of Alan Moore's graphic novel 'Watchmen'. He returned this year with clips of the finished film.

"...the movie is not supposed to replace the graphic novel. That was not my intent at all. If anything I would hope the movie is an advertisement for the graphic novel..."

Watchmen director Zack Snyder ready for battle to keep film intact

Canoe has posted an article about 'Watchmen'. The film, that only comes out in March, has created a whirlwind of buzz at this years Comic Con. Director Zach Snider says he isn't worried about the box office being flooded with super hero film.

The Chicago Tribune has posted an article on 'Watchmen'. Since the film generated a lot of buzz at this year's Comic Con, the article decided to give a rundown of the characters, as well as information on the original comic by Alan Moore.

"..."Watchmen" touched on many Reagan-era themes, including the Cold War and the nuclear arms race. But, ultimately, it moved comic books away from the kitschy, kids-only image of the '60s and '70s and proved the genre could handle more..."

Hollywood.com has posted an article on the Comic Con's special sneak peak at 'Watchmen'. Writer Kit Bowen was lucky enough to see an advance preview of some footage of the film and talk to director Zack Snyder.

“...It’s watching this crowd and blowing their minds that does it for me,” Snyder says about premiering the clip at Comic Con. “You can go anywhere in the world, but you’re never going to get this type of group in a room that understands what you are trying to do. It’s a special thing...”

/Film has posted an interview with 'Watchmen' director Zack Snyder. There has been some controversy over the film's length lately. Zack has made a 3 hour director's cut and Warner Brothers would prefer the film to be closer to 2.5 hours.

"...I understand and respect my partners at Warner Bros. I want them to have financial success with the film. You know, when you look at it that way, they invested a lot of money into it, they want it to be good. But on the other hand, I would tell them that I think the very things they think are too long, or too violent, or too sexy are the very reasons to go to the movie...”

The Associated Press has posted an article on 'Watchmen'. One of the film's props, the Owl Ship, was on display at the Comic Convention. Director Zack Snyder is going to great lengths to the comic, which he holds with high respect.
