Dylan Baker

Dylan Baker was born in Syracuse, New York and spent his childhood in Lynchburg, Virginia. Upon graduation from Georgetown Prep School in Rockville, Maryland, he attended William and Mary College, where his interest in the theater was born. He earned his B.F.A. at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and his M.F.A. at the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale, he appeared on stage in such Yale Reparatory productions as Rum and Coke, Tartuffe, About Face, and Richard III.

Baker was honored with an IFP Gotham Award and an IFP West Independent Spirit Award nomination for his starring role as Bill Maplewood in the critically acclaimed film HAPPINESS (1998), directed by Todd Solondz. Additionally, he has appeared in PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES (1987) with Steve Martin and John Candy, directed by John Hughes, THE LONG WALK HOME (1990) with Sissy Spacek and Whoopi Goldberg, DISCLOSURE (1994) with Michael Douglas and Demi Moore, and Woody Allen's CELEBRITY (1998).

In 1999, he was in SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE with Sarah Michelle Geller, directed by Mark Tarlov and RANDOM HEARTS directed by Sydney Pollack, starring Harrison Ford. The year 2000 followed with a small but memorable role in REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, starring Jared Leto, Marlon Wayans, Jennifer Connelly and Ellen Burstyn, for which she was nominated for both a Golden Globe and Academy Award, and THE CELL, starring Jennifer Lopez and Vince Vaughn. ALONG CAME A SPIDER (2001) saw Baker paired with Academy Award Winner, Morgan Freeman.

In 2002, Baker had roles in both ROAD TO PERDITION starring Tom Hanks, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Paul Newman, and Ciaran Hinds, directed by Sam Mendes and CHANGING LANES starring Ben Affleck and Samuel L. Jackson. RICK (2003) paired him with Bill Pullman and Golden Globe-winner Sandra Oh. Also in 2003, he starred in HEAD OF STATE with Chris Rock, who also directed, and Bernie Mac and HOW TO DEAL with Mandy Moore.

2004 saw the prolific actor in KINSEY along side Liam Neeson and Laura Linney, where he was directed by Bill Condon, and SPIDERMAN II, in which he played the villainous Dr. Curt Connors. His most recent films include the comedy LET'S GO TO PRISON (2006) and the celebrated independent film FIDO (2006).

Baker recently completed SPIDERMAN III, SPRING BREAK IN BOSNIA, THE STONE ANGEL and TRICK ˜R TREAT. He is currently shooting the new FOX series œDrive.

Baker™s other television credits include Tom Hanks™ HBO mini-series œFrom the Earth to the Moon, Stephen Boch™s courtroom drama œMurder One, œThe Book of Daniel, œThe Pitts, œFeds HBO's THE LARAMIE PROJECT (2002), the CBS movies of the week THE ELIZABETH SMART STORY (2003) and CASE OF DEADLY FORCE (1986), and the NBC mini-series œThe Murder of Mary Phagan.

Baker earned Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominations for his role as The Prince in the Broadway production of La Bete and an Obie Award for his performance in the Off-Broadway production of Not About Heroes. He most recently starred in Sea of Tranquility at the Atlantic Theatre Company and received rave reviews for his role in the Off-Broadway production of Homebody/Kabul at the New York Theatre Workshop.

In addition to being a charter member of the Drama Department Theatre Co., Baker has enjoyed directing such plays as The Taming of the Shrew, The Importance of Being Ernest, and A Midsummer Night™s Dream at the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival.
