Nancy Steiner
Bio
Nancy Steiner has worked extensively in film, music
videos, commercials and print.
Her film credits include LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, THE VIRGIN SUICIDES, LOST IN
TRANSLATION, ELIZABETHTOWN, SHOPGIRL, THE GOOD GIRL, THE YEAR OF THE
DOG, HUMAN NATURE, MILLION DOLLAR HOTEL, SAFE, and THE WINNER. Steiner
worked most recently on director Peter Jackson’s THE LOVELY BONES. In 2005, Premiere
Magazine and Hamilton honored Nancy for her illustrious film career and she has been
nominated twice for Contemporary Costume Design at the Costume Designers Guild Awards.
Nancy began her styling career in the world of music videos. Over the years she has worked
closely with many of the industries top artists such as Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, No Doubt,
David Bowie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, Sheryl Crow, R.E.M., Bjork, Air,
The Smashing Pumpkins, Fat Boy Slim and the Foo Fighters.
In 2004 Nancy garnered “Best Commercial Designâ€� at The Costume Designers Guild Awards for
her work on the “Barcardi & Colaâ€� campaign. Her work in commercial sadvertising includes
Levi’s, Gap, Nike, Volkswagen, HSBC, T Mobile, MasterCard, Sprint, Intel, Earthlink, Dell,
Volvo, Bacardi, Puma, Lincoln, Pepsi and Miller Beer to name just a few.
Nancy’s work has also been featured in such notable magazines as Vanity Fair, Marie Claire,
Interview, and Allure, Us, The Face and Rolling Stone. She has collaborated with celebrities
such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Milla Jovovoich, Sheryl Crow, Sandra Bullock, Sade,
Tom Hanks, REM and No Doubt.
Costume Designer- Job Description
Person who, in consultation with the director and production designer, designs, creates or acquires all warbrobe and costumes needed for a production. They also ensure that extra sets of cloting in the right sizes are available for stunt and photo doubles and stand-ins.
