The Seattle Times has interviewed director Kevin Smith on his latest film ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’. Smith talks about the films original NC-17 rating and having to appeal to get an R. Smith also talks about the challenges along the way- from places refusing to advertise to being barred from some screening. ‘Zack and Miri Make a Porno’ is out in theaters now.

“…when everyone was kind of running around over the last two weeks talking about the economic collapse of our country, I was sitting there going, This just makes our flick more plausible. Like it's a good time for the movie to come out because now people are facing economic hardship. Will they turn to porn? Doubtfully…"

Smith shares his thoughts on making another romantic comedy, and writing the script with Seth Rogen in mind. Since the part was written specifically for him, Smith shares his relief when Rogen accepted and jumped right into the role. Smith also touches on Star Wars porn, the rest of the cast and moving forward.

Banks plays the role of Miri who produces a porno with her friend, Zack (Rogen) for the extra cash. The Chicago Tribune has posted an article on Elizabeth Banks, star of both 'W.' and 'Zack and Miri Make a Porno' which are scheduled to be released in the same month. 'W.' was directed by Oliver Stone and chronicles the life of current American President George W. Bush, with Banks playing First Lady Laura Bush, and 'Zack and Miri' is about two old friends who decide to make a porno to make ends meet. She talks about playing both roles, and the fortune of having that opportunity.

The Winnipeg Sun has posted an interview with 'Zack and Miri Make a Porno' star Elizabeth Banks. Directed by Kevin Smith, Banks stars alongside Seth Rogen as two high school friends who decide the easiest way to raise money for rent is to make a porno. She insists that her love for foul humor began at home, at a young age.

"...I love juvenile humour. I grew up with a dad who did the 'pull my finger' move all the time and thought he was frigging hilarious," Banks says. "But it's also that I have a profession in which I'm constantly meeting new people..."

He talks about casting choices, showing penis on screen, and his favorite porn title and the appeals process after being rated NC17.

"...During the appeals process, you're not just screening for the MPAA, you're screening for the National Association of Theatre Owners. To me, that's the people who should make up the MPAA ratings board, because those are the cats who already know what gets people out of their seats and the theaters. Never mind what the parents think, what do the people who actually deal with the public think? So you screen your movie and get fifteen minutes to make your case..."

Slash Film has posted a review of 'Zack and Miri Make a Porno'. Directed by Kevin Smith, the comedy stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks. Although the film was almost given an NC17 rating beacuse of the vulgar jokes, Smith was able to appeal, and 'Zack and Miri' is now only rated R.

"...The first 30 minutes of the film is the funniest half-hour Smith has ever written/directed. As a studio executive would say, there are more laughs per a minute in the first third, than probably any of Smith’s previous films. Thank god Smith won the MPAA appeal..."
